No, you haven't accidentally stumbled onto Busted Racquet; this here's a golf story. That fellow at right there is Richard Krajicek. The 1996 Wimbledon champ, he's probably most famous for being on Centre Court when a streaker decided to show off her, uh, topspin.
Since retiring from tennis in 2003, he's taken up several endeavors, and last week he added to the list by serving as a caddy for 23-year-old Wil Besseling at the European Challenge Tour. Krajicek has managed Wil's career for the last couple years, and decided to caddy in order to give himself a chance to get closer to the kid and give him some tips about life in the limelight.
"Being on the bag was good as it gave us a chance to talk more and I could give Wil some advice," Krajicek said. "I appreciate there is a difference between tennis and golf but both are different games and I help him in terms of the mental side and handling the pressure."
This was a one-shot deal; Krajicek admits he doesn't know much about the golf side of things. Even so, I'm betting he could teach Besseling a thing or two about tantrums; the tennis folks have it all over golfers in that area.
